Team MukAway raises £1,025 for St Rocco's Hospice

Four runners from Team MukAway ran the Warrington Festival Half Marathon for St Rocco's Hospice, raising £1,025 from 48 donors, 171% of their £600 target.

The £1,025 is £425 above target and goes to St Rocco's, which provides end-of-life care in Warrington and costs £5.2 million a year to run.

Ryan Higgins, MukAway's customer success manager, finished in 1:51. Laura finished in 2:01, and Gemma Linaker, the company's CSR director, and Kath both finished in 2:07. The day was warm, the miles were tough and all four earned their medals.

“St Rocco's does a huge amount for people in Warrington, and this team wants to keep backing it. A skydive, a Snowdon walk, a dragon boat race and a half marathon later, we are £139 short of £10,000. We will get there. Full credit to the team for putting their bodies through it,” said Fraser Linaker, chief executive of MukAway.

“We set off wondering whether 13.1 miles was a sensible idea, and all four of us finished it on a warm day. The 48 people who gave made every one of those miles worth it. Thank you to them, and to everyone who cheered from the course,” said Gemma.

The half marathon is the latest of four fundraising challenges MukAway has taken on for the hospice this year. The £1,025 takes the team's total for St Rocco's to £9,861.
