One of Oxfordshire’s oldest housebuilders went from first conversation to live material matches on the MukAway platform in just six days.

Pye Homes, which has been building in the county since 1927, found 11,000m³ of subsoil and topsoil for its first receiver site on the first pass. The nearest donor site is seven miles away.

The Kidlington firm came to MukAway through LinkedIn. When MukAway wrote to its commercial team and directors, Pye replied that it had already seen the business online and wanted to talk.

Two days after confirming, Commercial Director Jamie Bishop sat down with MA EnviroTech Group CEO Fraser Linaker and Marketing and Sustainability Director Ian Cheveau. Pye took the proposal to its board, which approved it. By the Friday, Fraser had onboarded Pye Homes and was running live matching on the system.

The first Pye site listed as a receiver needed 11,547m³ of subsoil and topsoil. The platform matched:

  • 5,000m³ of subsoil from a donor seven miles away

  • 4,600m³ of subsoil from a donor 29 miles away

  • all 1,400m³ of topsoil from a single donor 19 miles away

That covers 95% of the site’s needs straight away, all within 29 miles.

Jamie Bishop, Commercial Director at Pye Homes, said: “We’d seen MukAway on LinkedIn, so when they got in touch it was an easy conversation to have. We had one site initially that needed a lot of fill. The meeting was straightforward, the board backed it, and by the Friday we were looking at live matches on screen. That’s the pace a housebuilder needs to operate in. Our requirements were met immediately and we’re now getting everything ready to transact.”

Fraser Linaker, CEO of MA Enviro Tech Group, said: “Pye Homes is exactly the kind of business MukAway was built for. We didn’t have to promise them anything. We sat down, logged in and showed them the matches. SMEs won’t necessarily have several sites they can simply exchange material with. That doesn’t matter with MukAway, as we have over 1,300 sites on our system. No matter where the site is, we’ll have a match.”

Ian Cheveau, Marketing and Sustainability Director, added: “The nearest match is seven miles down the road. That’s fewer lorry miles, less material brought in and good soil kept in use. It’s the model doing what it should, and it’s now doing it in Oxfordshire.”

There is more to come in the county. GRAHAM Civil Engineering, one of MukAway’s biggest clients, has a major Oxfordshire site ready to transact in 2027.

MukAway now has more than 1,300 sites and 130 companies on its network across the UK.
