MukAway marks first birthday with more than 1,300 sites on its network

MukAway, the platform that matches construction sites with surplus soil to sites that need it, is celebrating its first anniversary.
The platform went live in October 2025 with a single site. A year on, more than 1,300 sites and 130 construction companies are on the network, with 1.4 million cubic metres of material listed.
The business, part of MA EnviroTech Group and based at Chadwick House, Birchwood Park, Warrington, first showed its idea to the industry at a soft launch at the Village Hotel, Warrington, in June 2025.
Since then GRAHAM has signed a three-year, group-wide deal. Bloor Homes has signed a national agreement, and every Gleeson Homes region and four Keepmoat regions, including Scotland, have joined. Blue Phoenix has put its 13 UK depots behind the MukAway Merchant platform. Five housebuilders re-signed after saving more than £450,000 between them.
Fraser Linaker, chief executive of MukAway, said: “A year ago we had an idea and one site. Plenty of people told us construction was too set in its ways to change. The industry has proved them wrong, not us.
“We’ve sat in more than 180 boardrooms this year, and the verdict keeps coming back the same: this is the biggest no-brainer in construction. Year two starts now.”
Ian Cheveau, Marketing and Sustainability Director, said: “This time last year it was Fraser and I in a small office. Now that’s trebled in size. The business has rocketed.
“Clean, natural soil should never be heading to landfill. Every match on MukAway keeps good material in use, cuts the miles wagons travel and puts the carbon saving on record. That is what ESG teams and boards want to see, and it’s why the big names have signed.
“The word is out there. Developers, contractors and hauliers now come to us rather than the other way round. Year two is about making MukAway the first call for anyone moving material in this country.”
In its first year MukAway launched the UK’s first direct haulage link, which lets developers book material movements in a few clicks. It also launched Digital Tracking ahead of changes to waste reporting, and an ESG dashboard that reports carbon, compliance and cost on every transaction.
The business was named national champion at the NCE Awards and North West ESG Champions for 2025 and 2026. It won the North West heat of UK Start-Up of the Year and was named one of Insider Media’s Most Exciting Companies to Watch for 2026. It is shortlisted at the TechFest Awards in three categories and at the National Recycling Awards, whose winners are announced on 1 December.
Fraser and Ian gave the keynote at the Home Builders Federation SME programme in April. The team has grown, with Ste Newton joining as Technical Manager, Ahmed Hamdi as Chief Technology Officer and Ryan Higgins as Customer Success Manager. The company’s MukA-Talk podcast has passed 300 hours of listening.
Off the platform, Team MukAway has raised £9,861 for St Rocco’s Hospice through a skydive, a Snowdon walk, a dragon boat race and the Warrington Festival Half Marathon. That leaves the team £139 short of its £10,000 target.
