MukAway launches the UK's first direct haulage link

Moving material has always started the same way: a phone call.

A developer needs 2,000m³ of topsoil shifted tomorrow. Someone rings a haulage company, waits for a call back, agrees a price, and hopes the wagons turn up. Compliance paperwork follows later, if it follows at all.

MukAway has now taken that phone call out of the process.

The platform's new direct haulage link, which is the first of its kind in the UK, lets developers and contractors book material movements in a few clicks, with hauliers on the MukAway network picking up the job directly.

How it works

  • Post the movement: post material, post volume, post pick-up site, post date

  • Delivery site = haulier location, own location or external location

  • Hauliers bid on the job, if successful it then gets accepted through the platform

  • Real-time notifications as the movement is confirmed, collected and delivered

  • Full visibility of every load, with compliance records held in one place

  • ESG impact captured automatically on your MukAway dashboard

There’s no chasing people on phones and wondering whether or not the wagons will roll in and no gaps in the paper trail that will keep your company on the right side of the law.

The biggest gains are for developers moving material between sites in their own stable and an active open market for receiver or donor sites courtesy of the MukAway platform. Surplus subsoil on one scheme is a shortfall on another 20 miles away, the direct haulage link connects the two and sorts the transport in the same place the match is made.

That turns MukAway into one complete end-to-end platform: material matched, haulage booked, loads tracked, compliance recorded and carbon savings reported, without leaving the dashboard.

Fraser Linaker, CEO of MA EnviroTech Group, said: "Every material movement in this country still begins with someone picking up the phone and hoping a wagon is free. We have been changing that behaviour over the past 12 months and I’m pleased to now say that MukAway is the first platform in the UK to close that gap. Our customers can now match the material, book the haulage and track every load in one place, with the compliance and carbon data captured as they go.

"For developers moving material between their own sites, that's a genuine step change. And for hauliers, it means work coming direct, rather than wagons stood still waiting for the phone to ring. It’s already interested some of the biggest developers on our system."

We're now opening the network to more hauliers.

Joining the platform means direct access to material movements from the developers and contractors already using MukAway, jobs that keep wagons moving rather than stood on a yard waiting for the phone to ring.
