HD Ricketts Site Visit shows Merchant Potential

MukAway's Technical Manager Ste Newton recently visited HD Ricketts, one of the North West's most established material processing operations, as the platform prepares to connect verified Merchants with housebuilders and developers across the UK.

The visit gave the MukAway team a first-hand look at the scale and quality of material HD Ricketts processes and the sight resembled something out of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory for our Technical Manager; mountains of reclaimed brick, crushed aggregate stockpiled by the thousand tonne, screened sandy soils and a range of processed stone grades ready for the market.

It is precisely the kind of operation the MukAway Merchant function was built for.

Ste Newton said: "HD Ricketts are running a serious operation. The quality of material they're producing is exactly what we want to be connecting with the right buyers. That's what our Merchant facility is designed to do - take verified, compliance-ready product and get it in front of developers who need it."

What the Merchant function means for processors like HD Ricketts

MukAway's newly launched Merchant Product Sale function allows verified Merchants to list processed materials directly on the platform. Housebuilders and developers receive automatic notifications when relevant products become available, with haulage costs included and full compliance documentation stored against every transaction.

Materials now available through the platform include recycled aggregates, sand fill, recycled MOT, recycled 6F2, 6F5, concrete, asphalt and a range of processed stone grades, the kind of product HD Ricketts produces at scale.

Every transaction is auditable. Every document stored for a minimum of ten years.

For material processors, it removes the friction from finding buyers. For developers, it removes the compliance risk from sourcing recycled product. The platform handles both.

A circular economy for construction materials

The Merchant Product Sale function sits alongside MukAway's Merchant Waste Acquisition Workflow, which enables developers to list surplus and classified waste material, including soils assigned European Waste Catalogue (EWC) codes for collection and treatment by licensed Merchants.

Together, the two workflows complete MukAway's full end-to-end solution: surplus soil going out, quality aggregate coming back in.

Fraser Linaker, CEO and Founder of MukAway, said: "We're the first platform in the country to solve both sides of the material problem on a construction site. Every scenario is now covered and every transaction is compliant."

MukAway is now accepting Merchant registrations. If you process material and want to reach verified buyers across the UK housebuilding sector, get in touch.
