Fraser Linaker, CEO, reacts to the 2026 Budget

Well we knew it was coming and the government is doubling down on circular re-use!! AND SO ARE WE.

The latest Budget announcement sets out further increases to both landfill tax rates in England and Northern Ireland from 1 April 2027:

▪️ The standard rate, currently £130.75 per tonne, will increase to £136.70.

▪️ The lower rate, currently £8.65 per tonne, will increase to £14.60 per tonne. Based on a 18 tonne 8 Wheeler that's a staggering £262.80 per load, before gate fees and Haulage.

Not to worry, we have built a system that deals with both scenarios above.

SITE-TO-SITE RE-USE

Our platform connects sites with surplus material to projects that need it. Suitable clean, naturally occurring material can be reused through the appropriate CL DoWCoP material management process, avoiding landfill disposal and reducing the receiving site’s need for expensive imported material. Our current average transport rate is £10/m3 FACT, happy to share this information on a TEAMS call.

TREATMENT AND RECOVERY

For material that would otherwise attract standard rate landfill tax, our platform connects you with treatment plants to assess suitable treatment and recovery options. Where the material meets the facility’s acceptance criteria and can be recovered, this can reduce the volume ultimately sent to landfill and the associated tax exposure.

The opportunity is commercial and environmental: lower disposal costs, more material reuse and less reliance on landfill.

The key is taking control early. Understand your material, test it, quantify it and identify the right destination before excavation starts.
